Support A (Hybrid) CSA Pilot Project
Local maker and farm products for weekly purchase and pickup
Picked In Page CSA options (bags) coordinate the best of the season straight from our community. Each box is thoughtfully curated with fresh produce, small-batch goods, and artisan products from local farmers, producers, and makers. From produce and farm-fresh eggs to handcrafted breads and pantry staples, every item is grown or made right here in our region. Available for convenient local pickup, it’s a delicious way to eat fresh, support small businesses, and connect with the people who grow and create our food.
How it Works:
Local farmers, producers and makers supply the ingredients for our curated CSA boxes, and we deliver through innovative distribution channels to community hubs. Our partner fulfillment hub is the VFW Comer-Jones Post 621 located at 218 Veterans Lane in Luray, VA 22835.
Revenue from CSA sales are reinvested back into the program to provide low-cost or need-based food boxes, boost food access for underserved families, and grow the regional food economy. Visitors can purchase a curated local food box to enjoy while staying in the area and our residents can pick up weekly CSA supplies at the VFW.
This is a not for profit community pilot project made possible by our regional healthcare system - Valley Health. Page Alliance for Community Action (PACA) is the project coordinator.

Valley Health - Community Partnership Grant
Valley Health announced the recipients of its 2025 Community Partnership Grant program. This year’s top grant award of $50,000 has been granted to one outstanding organization demonstrating exceptional impact and alignment with Valley Health’s strategic priorities - PACA. Selected through a competitive application process, these recipients exemplify innovative approaches to improving health through education, care navigation, mobile and telehealth services, transportation access, behavioral health support, and strong community collaboration. Valley Health is honored to partner with these changemakers as we work together to advance health and well-being throughout our communities.
Page Alliance for Community Action (PACA), in collaboration with Page County's Community Action Team (CAT) and Shenandoah County's "A Place for Us" rural network, proposes Picked In Page, a pilot program designed to strengthen the local and fresh food system in Page and southern Shenandoah County. This program will address food insecurity and associated health issues by connecting community gardens and local producers to market opportunities, offering Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) options, and ensuring that underserved residents, including Valley Health patients, have access to fresh food.
Fresh food boxes, sourced from regional producers, will be distributed through innovative channels such as pop-up markets at healthcare facilities, workplace wellness programs, and a mobile market at high-traffic community hubs. These diverse distribution methods help meet people where they are and reduce barriers to access.
Proceeds from food box sales will be reinvested into the program to fund need-based CSA shares, expand community distribution, and strengthen the local food system. By connecting with tourism businesses, Picked In Page also offers visitors curated local food experiences, allowing them to sample regional products during their stay or take home a taste of the Valley. This dual-market strategy supports healthy food choices, boosts the regional economy, and ensures long-term program sustainability.
Project Partners
Community Action Team (CAT)
Who is CAT? A collaboration between the Luray-Page County Chamber of Commerce and the JMU Reach Initiative, the Page County Nonprofit Council and the Being There team have joined forces to form the Community Action Team (CAT). This dynamic group meets bi-monthly with the mission of connecting local resources to the most pressing needs of Page County residents through coordinated projects, programs, and initiatives.
CAT focuses on identifying community needs while assessing the strengths, gaps, and opportunities within our local organizations, institutions, and businesses. These efforts are led by the Luray-Page Chamber of Commerce and two dedicated co-chairs, with ongoing participation from a diverse range of community partners committed to making a meaningful impact in Page County.
Each month, representatives from community based organizations or CBO’s representing health systems, youth prevention and education, housing and homelessness, aging adults, food access and nutrition, recovery and mental health, small business support, etc. come together to share updates, identify challenges, and collaborate on solutions. Through open dialogue and collective action, CAT aims to build a stronger, more connected community. Through their collective efforts thus far, the CAT Team has successfully initiated a transportation study and recently received the Community Partnership Grant from Valley Health.
Currently, CAT has identified food access as a key priority, working to unify and enhance existing initiatives to ensure all residents have access to fresh, local food—ultimately helping to reduce health disparities across the county.
CAT meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each other month from 9:00–11:00 AM at the Page County Technical Center. All individuals and organizations interested in contributing to community betterment are encouraged to attend.
