Excess Produce WANTED

As you begin to layout your garden this season, think about planting a few extra rows of produce to give back to the community. Picked! in Page would like to provide locally grown fresh produce to service based organizations and consumers in support of a greater food assistance mission.

A cooperative CSA model is under development by the Picked! crew using community garden produce and excess collected from backyard producers and overstock from growers to be packed up for pick-up and delivery from a site yet to be determined.

The goal is to create a fresh food sustainable system by:

  • Plugging into current food assistance programs

  • Creating a cooperative CSA opportunity to better coordinate the growing of fresh food for purchase, collection and delivery

  • Reducing the waste of fresh food by providing a space for the collection of excess produce for food assistance and nutrition education

  • Improving the eating habits and health of residents by increasing the demand for fresh food, self-sufficiency and knowledge of utilizing fresh produce in home meals

  • Encouraging the community to “grow and give” to Picked fresh food efforts, increasing community self-sufficiency

Picked! CSA location coming soon!
